November Skeet Shooting

As someone who calls herself athletic, I am no outdoorswoman and do not take after my family. While I grew up with stories of my parents' killing game, eating squirrel meat, and going on plenty of hunting adventures, I never partook.

While hunting never intrigued me, clay pigeon shooting and archery is an activity I wanted to try. Having the urge to get in one last outdoor activity before the winter storms keep me inside for the next several months, I chose clay pigeon shooting, also known as skeet shooting, for our next group activity.

Skeet shooting is essentially where players use shotguns to hit targets thrown into the air at a variety of speeds and angles. Demanding complete concentration, skeet shooting is a great way to practice your shooting skills, or just improve your hand-eye coordination.

My hand-eye coordination is on par with a 3-year-old so I was pretty surprised when I hit a target more than once! Getting a good shot of your target starts from the moment you step into the ring. As people start taking shots, be sure to pay attention to the flight path of the β€˜bird’ so you can try to get a feel for where you will be aiming for.

It was a great time and I highly recommend this unique activity to anyone looking for a new experience.

I sent out the above custom invites, courtesy of Sweet Peaches Printables on Etsy, to join me at the Bald Mountain Range on a cold November day. Yes, cold. So cold in fact that it was sleeting during our entire lesson, but just made it even more thrilling!

Each attendee was gifted a flat cap from Amazon as a themed party favor.
