Fig House Review

Heirloom Event Company does not receive a commission for positive reviews or venue referrals for Fig House.

From the street, the Fig House unassuming—a navy building on a main drag across from a school. But once you walk through the gate, it’s like stepping into a hidden oasis. Tall hedges surround the outdoor space, offering privacy, shade, and sound insulation that makes the property feel tucked away from the bustle of LA.

What immediately stands out is the bold character of the space: emerald walls, stained-glass windows, and vintage mid-century lounge furniture, all provided in-house. It’s an artful canvas that doesn’t require much embellishment, but welcomes it, too. The ceremony space is shaded and tranquil, and the interior transitions seamlessly from cocktail hour to reception.

The Fig House describes itself as a catering company that happens to own a venue, and it shows. Their culinary partner, RoomForty, is deeply intentional. Chef Ale even designed a canapé based on our couple’s love story.

Other highlights include the spacious bridal suite, complete with a lounge-style gathering room, dressing area, and private restroom. The groom’s suite, with its moody speakeasy-meets-library vibe, can be repurposed as a second bar during the reception—a fun twist we loved.

Planning Process

Our initial communication with The Fig House started strong—quick responses, easy tour scheduling, and a warm welcome. However, when it came time to finalize a date, communication dropped off. For nearly a month, we heard nothing. A second tour request eventually connected us with a new point of contact, who acknowledged the silence (our original contact had left). From there, communication stabilized.

One surprise was the labor not being included in the food quotes—something that’s not immediately obvious and can cause sticker shock. Once we worked through the full estimate, we landed on a solution that worked for everyone.

Another bump in the road came with the tasting. The couple had already selected menu items with the chef beforehand, so when they arrived at the tasting and only got to sample one main (and no sides or canapes), they were understandably disappointed. Thankfully, the venue arranged a private tasting to make it right.

The venue also accommodated a rehearsal on a busy Saturday (a huge plus), but no staff member was present. While not a dealbreaker, it’s worth noting for couples who may need additional support during rehearsals.

Day-Of Execution

The wedding day at The Fig House ran beautifully, thanks to an incredible onsite team. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming, helpful, and professional—from the moment we arrived to the very end of the night. Their presence was warm and attentive, and they contributed significantly to the overall ease of the event.

The food was another highlight. Appetizers were perfectly bite-sized and thoughtfully crafted for cocktail hour mingling. The family-style dinner was generous, with plenty of food served on each platter, and the staff was quick to bring out more if requested. One standout detail: kids’ meals were served promptly: something any parent knows can make or break the start of dinner.

Guests also commented on how smooth the valet service was, noting how easy and efficient it was to arrive and depart without any delays.

That said, there were a few logistical challenges. The Fig House does not allow items to be dropped off ahead of time or stored overnight after the wedding, which can add stress for planning and production teams. Load-in time is limited to three hours before guest arrival, so if the couple is doing a first look onsite, vendors are actively setting up during that window—something to consider when planning the timeline. Additionally, while the appetizers were delicious, several guests mentioned they didn’t receive any, likely due to crowding near the kitchen exits. A more strategic distribution plan could have helped. Lastly, entrée service was delayed by about 15–20 minutes. While it didn’t derail the evening, it was noticeable and reflected in the
