LM Studio Chicago Review

Heirloom Event Company does not receive a commission for positive reviews or venue referrals for LM Studio.

In a city filled with historic ballrooms and industrial lofts, LM Studio Chicago stands apart as a bold, design-forward space with skyline views, water access, and a hospitality team that knows how to take care of its couples. Once a nightclub, now reimagined into an architecturally stunning wedding venue, LM Studio has quickly become a favorite among stylish, food-loving Chicago couples.

LM Studio is a top-tier pick for couples who want a design-forward, all-in-one celebration space in the city.

Price

LM Studio’s pricing structure offers flexible entry points and all-inclusive potential, making it a smart choice for couples looking to host a full wedding weekend in the city without unexpected surprises.

  • Starting price for receptions: $1,000

  • Bar services: $5 per guest

  • Average couple spends: ~$30,000

  • Plated dinner & catering package: ~$170 per person

For our August couple with 100 guests, the final cost came to $25,869, which included:

  • Ceremony fee

  • Full bar + wine service during dinner

  • Three passed appetizers

  • Soup or salad as a first course

  • Two plated entrées

  • Wedding cake

  • Dessert table + s’mores station

  • Two rounds of late-night snacks (hello, Lou Malnati’s pizza + mini Cuban sandwiches)

This package also included china, glassware, and a table/bar mixer package—the only rental not included was linens.

But this wasn’t just about quantity. The endless food service became part of the experience. Guests who weren’t big dancers still felt fully engaged—mingling at the s’mores station, revisiting the dessert table, and reconnecting over pizza at midnight. It was interactive, abundant, and totally guest-friendly.

Planning

We’ve seen a lot of venues—and we don’t say this lightly: LM Studio’s planning process is exceptional.

Planning a wedding at LM Studio feels like working with an experienced friend who’s just as invested in your day as you are—and that’s largely thanks to Kristin Johansson, LM’s in-house venue manager and a former wedding planner herself.

This level of attentiveness and honesty is rare.

Design-wise, the venue also works in your favor. LM Studio brings a bold, modern aesthetic that doesn’t need much extra décor. The Studio’s custom-built bar, plush lounge seating, and jaw-dropping floor-to-ceiling windows create a strong visual impact on their own. A glass-walled side room with a large floral mural provides overflow seating, a cozy lounge, or an Instagrammable cocktail space—no major draping or distraction needed.

It’s the kind of venue that lets you skip “transforming” a blank space and instead focus your energy on meaningful details.

Day-Of Execution

We usually caution couples when booking multi-level or inner-city venues, but LM Studio is so well-equipped that the day-of experience was smooth, comfortable, and high-functioning from start to finish. The space is designed for real weddings, and it shows.

  • The Parlor Room bridal suite (one of the largest we’ve seen in the city) comfortably fit our bride, parents, bridal party, and vendors before the ceremony.

  • Rentable apartments above the venue provided easy, private spaces for both wedding parties to get ready—no awkward shuttle schedules or off-site scrambling.

  • The park across the street became a natural backdrop for first looks, portraits, and family photos.

While we experienced a minor delay in security and some early guest arrivals (common in downtown Chicago traffic), the venue team was unfazed. The bride stayed tucked away in the suite, and the staff adjusted without a hitch.

The party continued late into the evening, with nearly half the guests staying past midnight thanks to a reception extension—and DJ Vestus keeping the energy alive. It was one of those weddings where everything just felt right.

Value

For couples wanting a modern, immersive, all-in-one wedding space in Chicago, LM Studio delivers extraordinary value.  The catering is both high-quality and plentiful, the space is stunning without needing excessive upgrades, and the vendor experience—especially with Kristin—is top-tier. With a total seated capacity of 200 (ceremony: 150, cocktail hour: up to 350), it comfortably supports events that feel both lively and intimate.

Here’s what stands out most about the value:

  • No need for a heavy décor budget—the venue itself does the visual work

  • Catering and bar costs are transparent and fair for the quality delivered.

  • A single point of contact who genuinely cares about the success of your day

  • Prime location with nearby photo ops and hotel access for guests

  • Built-in hospitality that supports both couples and guests from start to finish

And when you book with Heirloom? We’ll make sure your night ends seamlessly—like this couple, who returned to their hotel suite to find all their signage and personal items waiting for them, so they could truly relax and enjoy their first night as newlyweds.
